Summer Aikido Classes

for Kids and Teens in Park Slope

Aikido of Park Slope offers summer programming for children and teens, including both summer camp and regularly scheduled Aikido classes.

While many dojos pause their regular youth programs during the summer months, Aikido of Park Slope will continue offering kids and teen Aikido classes throughout July so students can stay active, focused, confident, and connected.

In addition to our summer camp, families can join us for regular weekly classes from July 1 to August 1, 2026.

Summer Class Schedule
Wednesdays: 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Saturdays: 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM

New students are welcome.

A Consistent Summer Activity for Kids and Teens

Summer can be a great time for kids to rest, play, and reset, but it can also be easy for regular routines to disappear.

Aikido gives children and teens a steady place to move their bodies, practice focus, build confidence, and stay connected to a positive community. At Aikido of Park Slope, students train in a supportive, noncompetitive environment where the emphasis is on learning, cooperation, balance, awareness, and respect.

For new students, the first classes are about getting comfortable with the basics. Students learn stance, movement, partner work, and how to fall and roll safely. The goal is not perfection. The goal is to show up, practice, and grow one class at a time.

Looking for Summer Camp?

Aikido of Park Slope also offers Aikido Summer Camp for children ages 6 to 14.

Why Families Choose Aikido of Park Slope

Aikido of Park Slope is Brooklyn’s oldest dojo, serving the community since 1981.

Aikido of Park Slope’s summer classes give children and teens a steady place to move, focus, build confidence, and stay connected during the summer months. For families exploring martial arts for the first time, our guide to why Aikido is one of the best martial arts for kids in Brooklyn is a helpful place to start. New students can also read what to expect in your child’s first Aikido class or our broader guide to [what to expect at your first martial arts class in Brooklyn]before stepping onto the mat. And for families planning ahead, summer classes can be a great bridge into fall, especially alongside our guide to the best after school programs for kids and teens in Brooklyn].

Beginners Are Welcome

Your child does not need previous martial arts experience to join us.

New students can start with a free trial class. For a first class, they should wear comfortable clothing they can move in, bring a water bottle, and be ready to train barefoot on the mat.

It is completely normal for new students to feel nervous at first. Everyone starts somewhere. Our instructors and senior students help beginners feel comfortable, supported, and included as they learn.

Aikido is a gradual practice. Each class builds on the last.
