Kids Martial Arts & Aikido Camps in Park Slope, Brooklyn

Aikido of Park Slope periodically offers special martial arts camps for children and teens during summer vacation and school breaks. Our Brooklyn kids camps combine Aikido training, movement, outdoor activity, mindfulness, creativity and community in a supportive, non-competitive environment.

Based in the heart of Park Slope, our camp programs have included training inside our Brooklyn dojo as well as outdoor activities in nearby Prospect Park. Children do not need previous Aikido or martial arts experience to participate.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF BROOKLYN KIDS CAMP

Movement, Martial Arts, Creativity and Community

For Brooklyn families looking for an active alternative to a traditional day camp, an Aikido camp offers children a different kind of experience. Rather than focusing on competition or winning, our approach encourages cooperation, awareness, confidence, physical coordination and respect for others.

Aikido is a traditional Japanese martial art, and our camps use its principles as the foundation for days that can include martial arts practice, physical conditioning, safe falling and rolling, partner exercises, games, outdoor movement and Japanese cultural enrichment. Past camps have incorporated activities such as origami, haiku, storytelling and age-appropriate wooden weapons practice alongside focused Aikido instruction.

Our Park Slope location also gives us access to nearby Prospect Park, allowing previous camp programs to combine time on the mat with outdoor movement and activities. The result is a Brooklyn camp experience designed to keep kids physically active and mentally engaged while introducing them to the values of balance, awareness, cooperation and peaceful conflict resolution.

Camp formats, ages, activities and schedules may vary from session to session. Specific information is announced whenever a new camp is scheduled.
