Our School Break Summer Camps at Aikido of Park Slope welcome children ages 6–14 for six-hour days of movement, mindfulness, and fun. Perfect for summer vacation, our camps combine outdoor training in Prospect Park with the calm focus of our Park Slope dojo.

Aikido Summer Camp

Ages: 6 to 14
Dates: July 6 to July 10, 2026
Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
Time: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM EDT

A Typical Camp Day

 

Morning in Prospect Park

  • Group warm-up and a 1.5-mile run

  • Strength and conditioning drills

  • Safe wooden weapons practice (age-appropriate)

  • Snack and outdoor games

 

Midday at the Dojo

  • Lunch break (bring your own)

  • Creative enrichment: origami, haiku writing, storytelling

  • Focused Aikido class taught by certified instructors

 

This blend of outdoor fitness, martial arts training, and creative exploration makes our camp both physically engaging and deeply rewarding.

 

Safety & Supervision

 

Your child’s well-being is our top priority. All sessions are led by instructors who have years of experience working with children both on and off the mat. Our staff-to-student ratio ensures close supervision, and we always adapt activities to each child’s age and ability level.

 

Dates & Enrollment

Camp sessions run during school breaks and summer vacation. Each session lasts six days, with camp days running approximately six hours. Enrollment is limited to ensure quality instruction and small group learning.

  • Lunch and a water bottle

  • Comfortable sneakers and workout clothes for outdoor practice

Want Regular Summer Classes Too?

Aikido of Park Slope also offers regular kids and teen Aikido classes throughout July.

 

These classes are separate from summer camp and are a great option for families who want ongoing weekly training before or after camp.

Is this camp beginner-friendly?

Yes! No prior martial arts experience is required.

 

What happens in case of rain?

In light rain, we still meet in Prospect Park. In heavier weather, camp begins earlier at the dojo.
