At Aikido of Park Slope, martial arts aren’t just for kids or adults they’re for the entire family. We believe that training together builds stronger connections, healthier habits, and shared respect. That is why we offer special discounts for siblings and parents, making it easier for families in Park Slope, Gowanus, Prospect Heights, Carroll Gardens, and Downtown Brooklyn to experience Aikido together.

Why Aikido Works for Families

Unlike karate, taekwondo, or jiu jitsu, Aikido is a non-competitive martial art. Instead of focusing on sparring or tournaments, students learn cooperation, focus, balance, and peaceful conflict resolution. This makes Aikido an ideal martial art for families because parents, kids, and teens can all participate at their own pace while supporting each other on the mat.

Sibling Discounts

We love seeing brothers and sisters train together. Older siblings get the chance to mentor and set an example, while younger children gain confidence by following their lead. To encourage siblings to join, we offer a 10% discount for the second child in our kids and teens program.

Parent Discounts

Why let your kids have all the fun? Parents who enroll in our adult Aikido program alongside their child receive a discounted membership rate. Many parents find that training together gives them a new way to bond, relieve stress, and model resilience for their children.

The Benefits of Training Together

Families who practice Aikido together tell us they notice:

  • Stronger relationships built on encouragement and teamwork.

  • Greater confidence as children and parents support each other’s progress.

  • Healthier routines with regular exercise and shared goals.

  • A deeper sense of community by being part of a supportive Brooklyn dojo.
